Gaming Influence: Thoughts - Indie World Showcase 8.7.2025
Hello everyone,
For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll share my thoughts on the Indie World Showcase on August 7, 2025.
Before I begin, please note that not every game shown in this presentation will be discussed, as I will primarily focus on games that I am particularly interested in and care about. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally. I have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me, or I don't have much to say about them except that they're cool. However, if you're happy with the games that you care about and are interested in, I have nothing to say about it, good for you, and I'm so glad for you.
Anyway, let's get started!
Mina the Hollower is an action-adventure game developed and published by Yacht Club Games, which will be released on Switch 2 and Switch on October 31, 2025.
This game has been in development for a couple of years, and after a long time, it'll finally be released. It's coming a lot sooner than expected. This game is pretty much a mix of The Legend of Zelda's Link's Awakening and a Metroidvania into one. Been waiting for this game for a long time, and the fact that we even get a demo for this game is great as well. Looking forward to trying it out once it's released in less than three months.
Well Dweller is a dark fairy-tale Metroidvania developed and published by Kyle Thompson, where the game is set to be released on Switch in 2026.
This game caught my attention due to its level design and atmosphere. I really love the dark theme of this game, as it would make things very interesting for the game itself. Hope to see more of this in the future when it comes out next year.
Neverway is a horror life simulation action role-playing game developed and published by Coldblood Inc., with a release date on Switch set for 2026.
This is another game that really caught my attention due to the variety of different genres present within it. The fact that this game has a great combination of horror, life simulation, and action RPG into one is pretty cool. Really love the art style and the music of the game as well. Hope to see more of this game in the future once it's released next year.
Herdling is an adventure game developed by Okomotive and published by Panic. The game is set to be released on Switch on August 21, 2025.
We've seen this game back at the Summer Game Fest two months ago, and it continues to look great in its own way. The game definitely has a lot more to it than I expected in terms of herding animals, as it's also a grand adventure, which is quite cool. Very curious to see how this game will turn out once it's released in a few weeks.
Is This Seat Taken? is a puzzle game developed by Poti Poti Studio and published by Wholesome Games. The game is available now on Switch.
Okay, this is a game that I didn't expect to see, but a very nice surprise regardless. This seems to be a fun and chaotic game where you have to please everyone, which isn't easy to do at all. I'm quite curious to see how this game will turn out overall, and looking forward to trying it out as it's available now to play.
Little Kitty, Big City is an adventure game developed and published by Double Dagger Studio. A free update to the game will be released on the Switch this holiday season.
It's great to see that this game will receive new content later this year, and the fact that it's free is even more impressive. They added customization, new levels, new characters, and a photo mode, which is a lot. We'll see how this free update will do once it's released this holiday.
BALL x PIT is an action roguelike game developed by Kenny Sun and published by Devolver Digital. The game is set to be released on Switch 2 this fall and on Switch on October 15, 2025.
We've seen this game back at the Devolver Digital Showcase two months ago during Summer Game Fest, so glad to see that this game is getting more attention. It seems like there's a lot more to this game than I expected, as well, in terms of the customization. Very curious to see how this game will turn out once it's released in two months.
Ultimate Sheep Raccoon is a bike-racing party game developed and published by Clever Endeavour Games. The game is set to be released on Switch 2 and Switch this winter.
I remember seeing this game before on PC, and it looks to be a lot of fun. This game is pretty much pure chaos, where you get to ride as animals, and there's also a lot of customization to the game as well which is cool. The fact that eight players can play in this version, as well as involving crossplay, is awesome. Looking forward to seeing how this game will do on Switch 2 and Switch this winter.
Glaciered is an action-adventure game developed by Studio Snowblind and published by Playism. The game is set to be released on Switch 2 this holiday.
This game was already released on PC, so great to see that this game will be coming to console and on Switch 2 as well. The fact that this game is getting a timed exclusive on Switch 2 is pretty good too. The game to me is like a mixture of Panzer Dragoon with RPG elements, and if you're into that, you would definitely give this game a try. Curious to see how this game will turn out on Switch 2 once it's released this holiday.
Winter Burrow is a cozy woodland survival game developed by Pine Creek Games and published by Noodlecake Studios. The game is set to be released on Switch this winter.
We've seen this game back at the Xbox Games Showcase last year, but we haven't seen any of the game since then until now. Great to see that this game is still coming out and it continues ot have my interest. I mean, you get to explore the world trying to survive as a mouse, which should be a lot of fun. Hope to see more of this game once it's released this winter.
Overall, this was a good presentation from Nintendo. As usual, I love that Nintendo gives these indie games a chance to shine and to be spotlighted as they did here. Granted, the only downside I had with this presentation is that they ended it with a sizzle reel and didn't have one more thing, which is quite disappointing. Other than that, they showcased a great variety of different genres, and we got a few shadowdrops too, so I can't complain. Hope that Nintendo continues to support indie games and do these presentations, as indie games definitely deserve more love.
