Gaming Influence: Thoughts - Indie World Showcase 10.28.2026
Hello everyone,
Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created in WrestleCorp. However, I will not only share my thoughts on certain video games and video game series, but also on video game movies, anime, digital presentations, and more. For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll share my thoughts on the Indie World Showcase on October 28, 2026.
Before I begin, please note that not every game shown in this presentation will be discussed, as I will primarily focus on games that I am particularly interested in and care about. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally. I have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me, or I don't have much to say about them except that they're cool. However, if you're happy with the games that you care about and are interested in, I have nothing to say about it; good for you, and I'm so glad for you.
Anyway, let's get started!
Witchbrook is a magical life-simulation and social role-playing game developed and published by Chucklefish, which is set to be released on Switch 2 and Switch on January 28, 2027.
Man, it's been about a year since we last saw anything about this game, as it was originally supposed to come out last year, but got delayed. However, we got an official release date, and the game has improved so much since the last time we saw it, which is incredible. The game looks to have online play as well, which should be great for a game like this. Glad to see that this game finally has a release date and curious to see how the game turns out once it's released in three months.
Winds of Viridia is an action-adventure game developed and published by Shark Jump, which is set to be released on Switch 2 in early 2027.
This game definitely has my attention due to its art style, world exploration, and gameplay combat. This game has a lot of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild vibes while having the combat of high-speed action games, which I'm totally down for. There's also a demo of this game available now, which I'll definitely check it out. This game has a lot of potential, and I hope to see more of it in the future once it's released early next year.
City of None is a 2D action-adventure puzzle platformer developed by Noel & Liam Berry and published by Extremely OK Games. The game is set to be released on Switch 2 and Switch in 2027.
Oh wow, I didn't know a member of the Celeste team is making a separate game, as this one looks incredible. It has this cool art style to it, and it seems to be a Metroidvania as well, which I'm totally down for. Hope to see more of this game in the future once it's released next year.
Sword of the Sea is an atmospheric adventure game developed and published by Giant Squid, set for release on Switch 2 on October 29, 2026.
It's nice to see this game coming to Switch 2, since it is already out on PS5 and PC. If you enjoyed the other games from Giant Squid, this one is no different, and the game is out tomorrow, or right now by the time you're reading this. If you have any interest in this game, I would recommend checking it out due to its atmosphere.
Tenjutsu is a gritty action roguelike game developed by Deepnight Games and Sébastien Benard and published by Devolver Digital. The game is set to be released on Switch 2 in 2027.
We've seen this game before, but we haven't seen it in a long time, so it's great to see it again, and it has improved a lot since the last time we saw it. The fact that this game is being developed by a designer of Dead Cells is awesome, as the gameplay looks like so much fun. This game has potential to be incredible, and I hope to see more of it once it's released next year.
Threads of Time is a 2.5D turn-based Japanese role-playing game developed by Riyo Games and published by Balor Games. The game is set to be released on Switch 2 and Switch in Summer 2027.
Man, this is another game we haven't seen in a while, but great to see it again as it also improved the last time as it looks incredible. This game definitely goes back to the classic JRPGs in the SNES and PSX era, especially with that sort of HD-2D art style, which I love. Glad to see that this game has some sort of release window, and I hope to see more of it in the future once it's released next summer.
Dumpster Gang is a chaotic physics-based co-op sandbox heist game developed by Coyote House Games and published by Curve Games. The game is set to be released on Switch 2 in March 2027.
This game is already out on PC, but glad that this game is coming to consoles and on Switch 2 as this game definitely seems like a lot of fun. I mean, you get to play as a raccoon and cause havoc. Who doesn't love that?! Curious to see how this game will turn out on Switch 2 once it's released in five months.
Haunted Paws is a cozy and spooky 2-player co-op adventure game developed and published by LazyFlock, which is set to be released on Switch 2 and Switch in May 2027.
This looks to be a cute but also spooky adventure game involving co-op, which is nice to see. Plus, you get to play as dogs and get to customize them as well. Who doesn't love that?! Plus, they also have a demo out for the game as well, which I plan to check out. Very curious to see how this game will turn out overall once it's released in seven months.
Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino is a 3D action-adventure and cozy horror game developed by Rias and published by room6 and yokaze. The game is set to be released on Switch 2 and Switch in Spring 2027.
Wow, this game looks absolutely incredible. This game has a beautiful art style to it, and I love the atmosphere that the game is bringing as well. This game has a chance to be something special, and I hope to see more of it in the future once it's released next spring.
Slime Rancher 2 is a first-person open-world life simulation and exploration game developed and published by Monomi Park, and it is set to be released on Switch 2 in January 2027.
Nice to see that this game is coming to Switch 2, as it's already been out on other consoles, so great to see it here. If you just want a relaxing game that you just shoot slime at, this is the game for you. Very curious to see how this game will turn out on Switch 2 once it's released in three months.
Overall, this was a good presentation from Nintendo. As usual, love that Nintendo continues to support indie games of all different genres and from different countries, which is awesome to see. Though, the only issue I had with this presentation is that there's no final game to end as it ended with a sizzle reel which is very unfortunate. Other than that, very happy that Nintendo continues to do these, and I'm curious to see what other indie games will be coming to Switch and Switch 2 in the future.
