Gaming Influence: Thoughts - PlayStation State of Play | September 3, 2026
Hello everyone,
For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll share my thoughts on the PlayStation State of Play on September 3, 2026.
Before I start, not every game shown in this presentation will be discussed, as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and am interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally; I have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me, or it's just that I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you're happy with the games you care about and are interested in, I have nothing to say; good for you, and I'm happy for you.
Anyway, let's get started!
Marvel's Wolverine is an action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set for release on PS5 on September 15, 2026.
This game is literally coming out in two weeks, but great to see PlayStation hyping up this game one last time before its release, and it continues to look amazing. I love how they're adding other Marvel characters to this game besides just X-Men characters, so it'll be interesting to see how this game will turn out overall. Looking forward to the game once it's released in a few weeks.
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition is the full version of the action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ghost of Yōtei. The game is set to be released on PS5 on October 1, 2026.
Nice to see that Ghost of Yōtei is getting more content and will have the full game with the Complete Edition. The new survival mode that the game has with Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted is very interesting, as it looks to be a roguelike game where you can choose which character you want and keep playing until you make it to the end or die. During the PlayStation State of Play Japan, they showcased more of the story DLC with Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara, which seems very interesting. Looking forward to the new content coming to the game and looking forward to playing the new content once it's released next month.
MONSTER HUNTER WILDS: ASCENDANCE is an expansion for the action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom, MONSTER HUNTER WILDS. The expansion is set for release on PS5 in 2027.
Man, this expansion seems massive, and I'm all here for it! We got new areas to explore and new monsters to fight as well. The story in this expansion seems interesting as well. During the PlayStation State of Play Japan, they went more in-depth on the trailer that was shown, including the new area of Skybound Eerie as well as showcasing the new Boost Action, which was quite cool to see. Very much looking forward to playing the expansion of this game and looking forward to seeing more once it's released next year.
Maneater 2 is a single-player, open-world action role-playing game developed and published by Tripwire Interactive, which the game is set to be released on PS5 in 2027.
Oh wow, didn't expect a new Maneater game, but this is great to see. It's been six years since the first Maneater, which was released in 2020, so this is a nice treat. I mean, you're playing as a shark and wreaking havoc. Who doesn't like that?! Very curious to see how this game will turn out overall once it's released next year.
FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is an HD-2D role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix, which the game is set to be released on PS5 on October 22, 2026.
When this game was first revealed back at the Nintendo Direct in June of this year, I was blown away by it, as I never expected a reimagining of the first Final Fantasy game in HD-2D, but I love it. The fact that we even have a Sephiroth boss in this game is quite incredible. I'm so looking forward to playing this game, and the fact that there's a demo for this game is even sweeter. Looking forward to the full game once it's released next month.
GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT is a high-mobility action game developed and published by Bandai Namco, which is set to be released on PS5 on March 5, 2027.
When they first showcased this game, I didn't really think it was a Gundam game at first because usually Gundam games have an anime art style, while this one has a more realistic art style. However, it does work, and it looks absolutely incredible. The graphics look incredible, and the gameplay looks to be a lot of fun as well. Also, during the PlayStation State of Play Japan, they went more in-depth with the customization of the Gundams in appearance, weapons, and skills, which is awesome to see. Very curious to see how this game will turn out overall once it's released in six months.
Uncanyon is a puzzle-first adventure game developed by Graceful Decay and published by Annapurna Interactive. The game is set to be released on PS5 in 2027.
This looks to be a fun puzzle adventure game, as it looks to have a very fun and unique art style to it as well. The puzzles in this game seem to be interesting to solve, and the game looks to have a story as well, and we'll see how that turns out. We'll see how this game will turn out overall once it's released next year.
Keeper is a surreal, wordless, third-person puzzle adventure game developed and published by Double Fine Productions, which is available now on PS5.
Wow, we got a shadow drop with this game, and with Double Fine Productions now being independent again, they can release their games on other consoles, which is nice to see. From what I've played with this game, the puzzles are quite fun and challenging as it also has a very unique art style to it as well. We'll see how this game turns out on PS5, and if you're into puzzle adventure games, give it a shot as it's available now.
Rev. NOIR is an action role-playing game developed and published by Konami, which is set to be released on PS5 in 2027.
When we first saw this game back at the PlayStation State of Play earlier this year in February, I was impressed by it, as it looks to be an original JRPG by Konami, which is freaking awesome. Everything about this game so far is clicking with me in terms of graphics, story, characters, gameplay, and music. Can't wait to see more of this game once it comes out next year.
Rhapsody in Scarlet is an action-adventure game developed and published by Konami, which the game is set to be released on PS5 in the future.
Wait, Konami is doing another new IP?! Heck yeah! This game actually looks pretty awesome, as it takes place in 1920s New York, and the music is just stellar with its jazz. Love the character designs, and the gameplay looks so much fun too. During the PlayStation State of Play Japan, we got more in-depth information in terms of the characters and story within the game, as I'm loving how this game is shaping up to be. I definitely have an eye on this game and hope to see more of it down the line.
Overall, this was a good presentation from PlayStation. Even though this presentation wasn't as good compared to their other presentations earlier this year, they still have some great game announcements, trailers, and more gameplay on games that we already know about as well. However, I will say that the pacing of this presentation was a bit off, especially when they start off with a movie trailer for Resident Evil. Personally, wouldn't open the presentation with a movie trailer, but that's just me. The LEGO PlayStation is honestly quite awesome, and I find it funny that it has a disc drive even though PlayStation is getting rid of physical discs. Oh, the irony. The games coming to PlayStation Plus are quite cool, like Mycopunk, Mega Man X Command Mission, Dino Crisis 2, and Ratchet & Clank. The new Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense controllers look awesome, even though I'm still disappointed with Rockstar Games on their recent decisions as of late. Even though I have issues with PlayStation recently, I can't deny that this was a good presentation, and I'm interested to see what other games PlayStation has in store for us in the future.
