Gaming Influence: Thoughts - PlayStation State of Play | June 2, 2026
Hello everyone,
For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll share my thoughts on the PlayStation State of Play on June 2, 2026.
Before I start, not every game shown in this presentation will be discussed, as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and are interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally, have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me, or it's just that I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you're happy with the games you care about and are interested in, I have nothing to say; good for you, and I'm happy for you.
Anyway, let's get started!
Marvel's Wolverine is an action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set for release on PS5 on September 15, 2026.
I'm still surprised by how gory and violent this game is, but I love it, as this is what Wolverine is like in the comics, so props to Insomniac Games for giving that vibe. It's also cool to see that other Marvel characters will show up in this game, including Jean Grey, Mystique, and Sabertooth, and I'm curious to see how they'll play into the story. The combat just looks so smooth and fluid as well. This game is coming out a lot sooner, and I can't wait to play it when it comes out in three months.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a fighting game developed by Arc System Works and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set for release on PS5 and PC on August 6, 2026.
Every time they show new characters for this game, they continue to pick characters that I didn't expect to be playable, but happy to see them regardless. Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage are excellent picks to be playable characters in this game, and they're being a part of Knights of Doom is quite interesting to see. This game is coming out in two months, and I can't wait to play it.
Rayman Legends Retold is a reimagining of the 2.5D platformer developed and published by Ubisoft that was released back in 2013, Rayman Legends. The game is set for release on PS5 on October 1, 2026.
Wait, what?! We're getting a reimagining of Rayman Legends?! Holy crap! Didn't see this coming, but this is a great surprise regardless. It looks like this game still holds the DNA of Rayman Legends, but they're looking to change up some things as well, and I'm curious to see what they're going to change with this game overall. Either way, glad to see Rayman back and looking forward to playing this game again in its reimagining form once it's released in four months.
Bancho the Chef is a cooking simulation and adventure game developed and published by MINTROCKET, where the game is set to be released on PS5 in the future.
Okay, I didn't expect a spin-off to DAVE THE DIVER at all, but this is a nice surprise regardless. This looks to be a prequel to how Banco became a chef before helping out Dave, which is quite interesting. This game definitely has my interest, and we'll see how it turns out once we see more of it in the future.
KEMURI is a yokai-possession action game developed and published by UNSEEN, where the game is set to be released on PS5 in 2027.
It's been a few years since we last saw anything of this game, but great to see more of it again after so long, as it's looking great. It looks to be a fun co-op game using different types of classes with their special abilities and so forth. I also enjoyed the atmosphere of this game, as well as its art style. Can't wait to see more of this game once it comes out next year, and it's always great to see Ikumi Nakamura being cheerful as always.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is an action-adventure game developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog and published by Amazon Game Studios. The game is set for release on PS5 on February 12, 2027.
The last time we saw anything from this game was back at the Game Awards last year, so great to see it here as this reimagining of Tomb Raider continues to be stunning. It definitely still has the main core components of what made the first Tomb Raider special, but it also adding their own twist to it, which is great to see. Very curious to see how the game will turn out overall, and can't wait to play this game with a new experience due to this reimagining once it's released in eight months.
Phantom Blade Ø is a wuxia action role-playing game developed and published by S-GAME, where the game is set to be released on PS5 on October 29, 2026.
Man, I was hoping to see a lot more than what we got here, but it turns out that it's due to the fact that this game they're having a deep dive with this game later this summer, which I'm down for. I'm definitely a bit disappointed that this game got delayed, but as long as the quality of this game is good, it'll be worth it. Can't wait to see more of this game with the deep dive later this summer, and looking forward to playing this game in general once it's released in four months.
Dune: Awakening is a survival game developed and published by Funcom, which is set to be released on PS5 on September 22, 2026.
Nice to see that this game is coming to PS5, and the fact that it's getting new content with the PS5 version is great to see too. The fact that this version will get a single-player mode is quite cool as well. Curious to see how this version of the game will turn out on PS5 once it's released in three months.
DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered is a remaster of the hack-and-slash game developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo back on PS2 in 2001, DYNASTY WARRIORS 3. The game is set for release on PS5 on October 1, 2026.
Even though they said that this game is a remaster, this is more of a remake to me, especially in terms of the upgraded visuals, which are insane. Plus, they're adding new content to it too, like adding Zuluan from Dynasty Warriors Origins in this game, which is insane. Regardless, looking forward to replaying this game with the upgraded graphics and new content once it's released in four months.
No Rest for the Wicked is an action role-playing game developed and published by Moon Studios, which is set to be released on PS5 in October 2026.
Very cool to see that this game is coming to PS5, as it's definitely one of the best games that came out on PC during its time. If you have any interest in roguelike games, you'll probably enjoy this once due to how deep the gameplay is in terms of classes and so forth. The fact that this game supports cross-play and cross-save is awesome too. Curious to see how this version turns out once it's released in four months.
Overall, this was a great presentation from PlayStation. I feel like this presentation had a good mix of both first-party and third-party games, as I didn't expect PlayStation to have a lot of exclusive games showcased here, but glad to see it regardless. Nice to see PlayStation continue to support the PlayStation Plus subscription players by adding Gitaroo Man this month, Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy next month, and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams this August. PlayStation has some big games coming to their system soon and in the future, and I'm interested to see what else PlayStation has in store for us down the line.
